About these capybara coloring pages
By The Color Page Team · Updated · How we make them
Is your kid in a capybara phase? These free printable capybara coloring pages have a capybara soaking in a hot spring, one with an orange on its head, a bird sitting on its back and a whole wetland family. Print one page or the whole set as a free PDF, on US Letter or A4.
The easy pages have big, round shapes for preschool and kindergarten, and the detailed ones have gardens and rivers for older kids. Capybaras are easy to draw and very forgiving to color, since they're mostly one calm brown shape, and that's part of the charm.
Which capybara page should we print?
- Little kids: the capybara with an orange on its head, the capybara in a hot spring and the capybara with a bird have big, simple shapes.
- Ages 6 to 9: the capybara with ducks, the rainy puddle and the orange picnic have more to find.
- Older kids and grown-ups: the wetland family, the bird sanctuary and the moonlit spring take longer.
What is a capybara?
A capybara is the world's largest rodent, a giant cousin of the guinea pig from South America. It lives in groups near rivers and swamps, has webbed toes for swimming and spends a lot of time in the water. Birds often ride on its back. Some zoos in Japan even give capybaras warm baths with citrus fruit floating in them, which is why you'll see them with oranges. More animals kids love are on our axolotl coloring pages and cute coloring pages.
Tips for Coloring a Capybara
- Use two browns. A darker brown on the back and a lighter one on the belly adds shape.
- Make the orange bright. It's the funniest part of the picture, so let it stand out.
- Color fur in short strokes. Little lines look more like fur than solid coloring.
- Add steam. Pale blue curls above a hot spring make the scene feel warm.
