Thanksgiving Word Search Puzzles
Which word search level should I print?
- Easy, for kindergarten and 1st grade. An 8 by 8 grid with big letters and 6 words that run only across and down. Start with Easy Thanksgiving or the easy turkey word search.
- Medium, for grades 2-3. A 12 by 12 grid with 10 words that also run diagonally. Try the Thanksgiving dinner word search or the fall harvest word search, which has some good vocabulary.
- Hard, for grades 4-5 and adults. A 15 by 15 grid with 15 words in all 8 directions, including backward. The Thanksgiving feast word search is the one to give a grown-up. The Mayflower word search fits a history lesson.

How to print for a whole class
- One puzzle: each PDF has 2 pages. Print page 1 for the class and keep page 2 as your answer key. The "Print this page" button prints the puzzle only.
- One level: each level PDF has 8 pages, 4 puzzles and their 4 answer keys.
- Everything: the whole set has 24 pages. The 12 puzzles come first and the 12 answer keys are at the back, so choose pages 1 to 12 in your print window to leave out the answers.
Printing in black and white is fine, and there's a line for each child's name and the date.

Tips for Word Search Time
- Show how it works first. With younger kids, find the first word together on the board, then let them go.
- Use a finger or a ruler. Sliding it along a row helps early readers keep their place.
- Hunt for the first letter. Pick a word, find its first letter in the grid, then look at the letters around it.
- Check words off. Every word has a box to tick, so kids can see how many are left.
- Have something ready for early finishers. Ask them to write a sentence with their favorite word, or color the small picture at the top.
